THE CHRISTIAN FAITH LIFE IS "A WALK ON WATER"

When one becomes a born again christian (Romans 10:9  If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved), he/she becomes a new creation.

The next thing is to start living the Life which Jesus Christ of Nazareth brought to us, which is the Life of Faith. The question now is, what then is the Life of Faith?

The NIV Bible in Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as  "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see"

The Amplified Bible rendering puts it better "Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the deed) of the things (we) hope for, being the proof of things (we) do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith preceding as real fact which is not revealed to the senses)."

Therefore, faith means calling 'real' what your physical senses cannot perceive as real, irrespective of the circumstances surrounding you, you affirm your confidence, your assurance that what you hope for must surely manifest.

The world has been inundated with this saying "seeing is believing" but the Lord Jesus said to Martha "...if you believe, you will see...." John 11:40. He also said to Thomas "...blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." John 20:29.

The life of faith can be likened to a walk on water. Humanly speaking, it is impossible and absurd to even think of walking on water; likewise it is with calling real what your physical senses cannot perceive as real.
Apostle Peter had a wonderful encounter with Jesus in Matthew 14: 25-31, when he walked on water.

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

Notice in verse 28 of the above scripture that Peter actually walked on water. As soon as the Master told him to come, he didn't consider the waves, he didn't consider the fact that he could drown, he just believed and obeyed.

Now consider verse 30, when Peter began reckoning the circumstances around him, he began to sink.

Faith considers not the circumstances, faith maintains the confession, faith is so convinced that nothing in the world is strong enough to deter it. A wonderful minister of God once said "If it didn't work, it was not faith." How remarkable. when we walk by faith, we are sure to be victorious and conquerors at all times.
Glory to God.
